Obituary for Eileen Buck (Godin)
BUCK, Eileen (Nee Godin) 1925-2017
It is with great sorrow that Eileen’s family announce her passing at the Timmins and District Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Timmins in 1925, Eileen spent a long and healthy life surrounded by caring family and many friends. She was predeceased by her husband James Elliott Buck in 1970 and for the next two decades diligently cared for her mother Ida May Godin until her death at the age of 98 years. Eileen was a life-long member of St-Anthony's Church and loved attending Sunday Mass joining friends for coffee and friendship afterwards each week. She was a volunteer at the Golden Manor for many years where she enjoyed helping seniors. She is survived by her dear sister and good friend Annette (late Pat) Robertson of Kingston and her loving brother Robert (Aline) Godin of Kitchener. She will be fondly remembered as a kind, caring and humorous "Auntie" by her eleven nieces and nephews and their children. Eileen was predeceased by her parents Ida May and Joseph Godin, her brothers: Leonard (Jean) of Hamilton, Rolland (Azeline) of Timmins, Alfred of Timmins, Gerald of Timmins, Lawrence (Mary) of Timmins and her brother Eddie who died in childhood. Also she was predeceased by two nephews Bill and Ronald Godin, whom she grieved for at their passing. Eileen loved people and celebrated the gift of friendship with many Timmins pioneers. She had many fond memories of the early Timmins community and its original families. In death she is reunited with two very special people: her dear husband Jim, the love of her life whom she never ceased to miss, and her life-long best friend Lola (late Vern) Darby who was like another sister to her. Family wish to thank the management team at Chateau Georgian Residence: Terri and Jessie, Shirley and all the staff for their great care these past five months. Sincere appreciation is expressed to Dr. Marion-Bellemare, Dr. Rody and RN's Rebecca and Melissa at Timmins and District Hospital who provided exemplary care during her brief illness.
According to Eileen’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate her life and faith at a Memorial Service on Friday June 23, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Miron-Wilson Funeral Home (Deacon Michel Neron officiating). Interment of ashes will follow at the Timmins Memorial Cemetery. A reception will be held in the Miron-Wilson Reception Lounge. In lieu of flowers, remembrance donations to the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. The funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
